On the 11th of August, Low Wei Jie of Compassvale Primary School P6-02 (2010) became an inspiration to many people. He appeared on Channel News Asia, News 5 tonight, TODAY and The Straits Time. Everyone wanted to contact him and he became the surprise star. Although Wei Jie was soaked by the rain, he ran 15km over 2-1/2 hours to take pictures of torchbearers in the flame relay.

His flip-flops may have held up, but his feet hurt, and there were bloodied scratches on his right ankle. Then he discovered to great consternation that the camera he had borrowed from his parents was not waterproof and had jammed. However, he still continued his journey. When my principal told the school about his determination towards it, everyone was touched by the story and I frankly could not believe it at first. Although he was from the Speech and Drama Club, he is fully committed and had much courage, determination and passion for the YOG.

As a classmate, I am personally very proud of him and so is everyone else. The Ministry of Community Development, Youth and Sports and the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Organising Committee had even decided that he should be given the honour of being a torch bearer! My classmates and teachers will be attending the relay tomorrow to support Wei Jie. (;

He is definitely a fitting symbol of the passionate spirit of youth. This Saturday, I will be uploading pictures of him being the torch bearer and on Sunday, I will be uploading pictures of the Youth Olympic Games Opening Ceremony Rehearsal that my friends and teacher had gone to on last Saturday. I can only upload the pictures for the YOG Opening Ceremony Rehearsal after the actual one or else it wouldn't be a surprise anymore. (;

You wouldn't want to miss it! :D.
